Instructions for Free Agents

Are you new to the DMVand looking to play soccer? Are you an individual player needing  a team? Read below about all your registration options.

  • 1

    Register for Free Agent leagues

Individually register for a free agent league, and District Soccer will handle the rest! We will place you on a team, provide a jersey, and get you set for the season. These programs are for all skill-levels; a good opportunity for new players or long-time players to meet new people - or for players looking to ease back into soccer.

    Register for Free Agent Teams

If the days for the Free Agent leagues don’t work with your schedule, check out Free Agent teams. Registration guarantees a place on a free agent team within a certain league. We provide a jersey, place you on a team of free agents, and get you set for the season! Free Agent Teams are only available in targeted leagues each season.

Register For a Free Agent Waitlist

Players can register for the free agent waitlist in any league. Free Agent registration is cost-free in all programs and does not guarantee you a spot in the league. Captains can see your LeagueApps bio, so use it to explain whether you are looking to join a team or substitute and describe your playing experience and preferred position(s). Log in through the District Soccer Dashboard above to edit your bio!

If team captains in the league need players to fill out their roster or sub, you will receive a message via email. If you mutually agree that the team is a good match, the captain can invite you to their roster. Once you accept an invitation, you will be invoiced for the team

Instructions for Team Captains

To add free agents to your team, please follow these steps. When free agents register for a league, they can be viewed (by captains only) from your league's page under the "Players" submenu.

You can filter this list to show free agents registered in your league only, with options to send a message and invite players to your roster. You can browse the list of free agents to send them an email.

If you decide you would like to contact a Free Agent and ask them to join your team, do the following

  • 1

    Find A Player

Find a player registered to your program and select "Send Message." From within your LeagueApps account, click the league, then click ‘Players.’ Free agents can be viewed by captains only.

  • 2

    Message a player

Send the player an introductory email asking about their playing experience, preferred position(s), and any information you'd like to provide about your team (how long you've been playing in District Soccer, team culture, playing style, etc).

  • 3

    Send an invitation

If you mutually agree that the free agent and your team are a good match, you can send them an invite to join your roster for the season. You can also reach out to free agents throughout the season if you're looking for single-match subs

    Need Support

If you are still looking for additional players after reviewing the players registered to your program, please email info@districtsoccer.org to request that our team reach out to players in other programs on your behalf; you must be willing to share your contact information with free agents in order to exercise this option.
